Floorplan
This is a very spacious apartment (approx. 210 m2 /
2,260 sq.ft.) on 2 floors.
The apartment has the layout of a classic 17th century merchant canal house.
The floors are 'souterrain' (lower level) and 'bel-etage' (upper level).
Souterrain means ground floor, partly below street level.
Bel-etage is the first floor up (almost ground floor, but a few steps up), traditionally
intended to have the chique
visitor rooms (especially the salon). To impress visitors and passers-by the 'beletage' floor traditionally
has high ceilings: this apartment has a stunning 4.5 meters (14.75 ft) high
beletage.
The bel-etage rooms have 3 large, beautiful chandeliers in a row.
Even more impressive for central Amsterdam standards is the immense garden
(150 m2 / 1,600 sq.ft). As the garden is at the back of the house, no
traffic can be heard - all you hear is the singing of the birds.
The garden is for the
exclusive and private use of the guests. There is garden furniture in the
garden (see the picture below), and a smaller table with chairs on the upper
terrace.
Lower level (10 steps down from the upper level)
- The master bedroom, a small
2nd bedroom and 2 bathrooms are downstairs (10 steps down), accessed via a
small staircase just off the kitchen. This bedroom, with view to the garden,
is considered the master due to its privacy and close proximity to the full
bathroom.
- The larger, master bedroom has a
queen-sized bed, a walk-in closet, sitting area and wonderful view to the
garden. There's a television.
- The smaller bedroom is perfect for a single or a child, although it does have the possibility of
sleeping 2 persons (very cozily!)
- The full bathroom of polished black granite and white tiles, has a toilet, bidet, double sinks,
separate shower and Jacuzzi bath (also with shower head). There are heated
towel racks as well as under the floor heating. There is a hairdryer.
- The 2nd bathroom, also has polished granite and white tiles, a toilet, shower and single sink.
- All rooms can be closed off
from each other to afford privacy and there's free access to bathroom and
toilet facilities without having to enter into rooms where others might be
sleeping.
Upper level
The beletage (upper) floor has:
- the salon, facing the Keizersgracht canal,
- the third bedroom
- the large
open plan kitchen / lounge with dining table (facing the garden). French
doors lead to the garden. As the kitchen is bel-etage level, the garden is a
few steps down.
- third toilet (marble).
Special in the lounge room is a 17th century cloth ceiling decoration (not
yet available on pictures).
The kitchen/dining is supplied
with dishes and utensils for 6 people, is equipped with a large
refrigerator/freezer, large oven and a micro-wave. There is a dishwasher, a
coffee maker and all other necessary supplies.
All rooms can be closed off from each other to afford privacy and there's
free access to bathroom and toilet facilities without having to enter into
rooms where others might be sleeping.
There is oak parquet on the floor.
Information about the stairs in this apartment:
The entrance from the street to the front door is just above street level (8
steps). Once inside, to go down to the master bedroom and main bathroom
(souterrain), there is a staircase with 10 steps or so.
The third staircase is the one leading from the kitchen/living area into the
garden, also 8 steps.
They are quite easy stairs, with good hand rails.

available. It is a WiFi-connection (wireless), you need to bring your own
laptop.

The master bedroom (lower level) has a queen size bed.
This bedroom has a wall of closets, and a television.
The second bedroom (lower level) is perfect for a single or a
child, although it does have the possibility of sleeping 2 persons (very
cozily!), there is an extra mattress.
The third bedroom (upper level) has a queen size bed (separable into twins;
if the bed is not separated there is a special mattress to prevent that
there is a split in the middle).
The L-shaped couch in the lounge/kitchen can become a double bed.
