Quality of
our properties
It appears that it is not really clear what exactly constitutes an
apartment. Not only may the meaning of the word differ between countries,
some parties on the market try to let accommodation pass as 'apartments',
that, in our view, do not really deserve the name.
As a customer, you should get clear information about the property you rent,
so that you can take an informed decision.
We believe that 4 basic characteristics make an apartment different from a
hotel: privacy, (more) space, a living room/area and a kitchen.
All our properties are selected to have at least the following quality level:
(A few properties have a relatively minor exception to these rules. This is
explained below and in the text description of apartment - you decide how
important it is for you)
Privacy
- every property has its own entrance door - you get the key
- all facilities are private, not shared with others
- no cleaners who knock on your door every day
- all properties are complete, independently functioning residences.
They are self-catering.
Please note: although the apartments are private, they are also in
residential buildings: you are asked to keep it quiet after 10pm, to respect
the neighbours!
Space
The apartments have more space than ordinary hotel
rooms. Space to make your own breakfast, cook your own meal and watch tv
without having to lie on your bed.
Home
- all properties have a complete kitchen: cooking facilities (at least 4
burners to cook on), cutlery, earthenware, pots and pans, refrigerator,
microwave/oven, coffeemaker, etc. (exception: 1 property comes with 2 burners to cook on).
- at least one tv is available, and complete stereo equipment
- the apartments are in quiet, residential buildings, so no hotel atmosphere
- central heating is in all properties
- at least 1 full bathroom with at least a shower and a toilet
Direct environment
- all properties are in a convenient, central location, with most
tourist attractions in easy walking distance (exception: 1 property is just
outside the centre).
- restaurants, shops and pubs/cafe's/clubs are within walking distance
- all properties are in safe areas
- we have no properties along busy/noisy streets with a lot of car traffic
- no properties are in the Red Light District
Towels and bed linen are provided in all properties, and included in the
price.
Internet
All properties have free broadband internet available. We understand it's a
wired world, and you need to have an internet connection, be it for work or
for general purposes.
Most properties have a wireless connection, but not yet all.

Some (or most) properties have a phone connection,
washer, dryer, canal view, a fire place, garden, roof terrace, a jacuzzi,
double bathroom, office facilities, etc.
