Transport
from the airport Schiphol to Amsterdam:
1. By train and taxi
A common way to travel to the centre of Amsterdam is by train and taxi.
A train station is inside the airport. About 6-7 trains per hour go to
Amsterdam Central Station (between 6 am and 11 pm). Between 11 pm and 6 am
this is reduced to about 1 train per hour.

Duration: A train ride takes about 15 - 20 minutes, and a single ticket is
3.90 per person (price level 2009; children up to 3 years travel for free).
In front of the Central Station in Amsterdam there is a taxi stand (as you leave the station,
on your right hand side. A taxi ride is about
15 in the centre of
Amsterdam (may vary, depending on traffic and distance).

Advice: the official taxi stand is right outside the train station,
on your right hand side. Be sure you have the correct address with you. You
may be approached by unlicensed taxi drivers as you leave the station. They
are at best ignored.
Duration: a taxi ride in the centre should be about 5-10 minutes.
2. By taxi
There are always taxis waiting for you in front of the airport terminal. A
taxi ride to Amsterdam should cost between
45 and
60, depending on
traffic and distance (price level 2009).
Duration: about 20-25 minutes.
Advice: the official taxi stand is your best choice. As you leave the
customs area, you may be approached by people offering you a taxi ride. This
is an illegal practice, at best ignored.
